Macrocarpa Garden Post - Fish Hook or Matau

The fish hook is central to our islands, as legend has it that Maui, the great fisherman, pulled a huge fish from the ocean with a bone hook, and it became Aotearoa, the land of the long white cloud. This piece is carved into macrocarpa and inlaid with large pieces of green glass to beautiful effect, then protected with a very durable coating.

Our artwork and signs are hand finished so each piece is one of a kind. Other versions of the same design in stock may have minor variations in sizing, timber, colours etc. If your order comes through in a similar time frame to others for the same piece, we will offer you a similar one if we have one in stock, or we may be able to make a new one for you with the added benefit of small personal choice variations (to be discussed)
